What is UP Scholarship 2026-27? A Simple Guide

The UP Scholarship is a very helpful scheme by the Uttar Pradesh Government. It gives money to students who want to study but do not have enough money. If you belong to General, OBC, SC, ST, or Minority category, you can apply for this money on the official website: scholarship.up.gov.in. Every year, lakhs of students in UP use this scholarship to pay their school and college fees easily.

Who Can Apply? (Rules for Eligibility)

Before you fill the form, check if you match these simple rules:

  • UP Resident: You must be living in Uttar Pradesh (You need a UP Domicile).
  • Valid School/College: Your school or college must be registered with the UP Government.
  • Family Income Limit:
    • If you are General, OBC, or Minority: Your family should earn less than ₹2,00,000 in one year.
    • If you are SC or ST: Your family should earn less than ₹2,50,000 in one year.
  • Pass Marks: You must pass your last exam. If you failed your last class, you cannot apply.

Important Documents You Must Have

Keep these papers ready before you open the website. All papers should be new and correct:

  • Aadhaar Card: Very important. Your phone number must be joined with your Aadhaar.
  • Bank Passbook: Your bank account must also be joined with your Aadhaar (seeded) so money comes directly to you.
  • Income Certificate (Aay Praman Patra): Made by the Tehsildar (must be new).
  • Caste Certificate (Jati Praman Patra): Needed if you are OBC, SC, or ST.
  • निवास प्रमाण पत्र (Domicile): Proof that you live in UP.
  • Fee Receipt: The slip showing you paid fees to your current school/college.
  • Old Marksheet: Your result from the last class you passed.

How to Fill the UP Scholarship Form Online?

Step 1: New Registration

Open scholarship.up.gov.in on your mobile or computer. Click on 'Student' and then 'Registration'. Choose your caste and your class (like Pre-Matric or Post-Matric). Fill your basic details to get a Registration Number.

Step 2: Login and Aadhaar Check

Log in using your new Registration Number and password. The website will ask for your Aadhaar number. An OTP will come to your mobile. Enter the OTP to prove it is you.

Step 3: Fill Full Form

Now, fill your bank details, marks, and fee details. Upload a clear photo of yourself. Upload your income and caste certificates.

Step 4: Print and Submit to College

Check the form twice. If everything is correct, click 'Final Submit'. Take a printout of the final form. Pin all document copies with the printout and give it to your school or college office.

How to Check Status or Make Corrections?

After your college sends the form forward, the District Welfare Officer (DWO) will check it. You can log in anytime to check your "Current Status". Sometimes, if there is a mistake in your form, the government gives a few days (Correction Window) to fix it. Always check your status!

Big Tip: Make sure your bank account is fully active and there is no limit on how much money can come in. The scholarship money comes directly from the government to your bank!
